Trying to be a better artist everyday~

A 20something journalist/writer with an itchy shutter finger. As human beings living in modern society with our busy everyday lifestyles, we go by seeing things at a hundred miles an hour. Photography can evoke so many thoughts and emotions in us, when all they are is a split second—a single moment, packaged into seemingly insignificant still frames.

“When I press that shutter button, I am hoping the character of the people and places on the other end of the viewfinder really come through.”

Ben Clarke (aka bewaretheteddy) grew up hiding his room away from life whilst he was plodding through his school years. After studying fine art briefly in 2007 and dabbling in digital animation in 2008, his head had inflated large enough to believe himself above the rabble he had been studying with.
After taking a few years to calm the ego and mull over the world and human existence, he decided to turn his mind grapes to science and use his frayed nerve endings to benefit mankind in its advance toward immortality, equality, world domination and peace.

His artwork reflects a childlike frame of mind; sometimes very black and white in its execution, but twisted enough to show a developed thought process.
Amongst his strengths are shoe designs, paintings and illustrations, with more media being explored as he advances through his career in the science industry.

It is said he believes the best kind of peace of mind is achieved by balancing near opposites, walking a mental tightrope, and having a loving partner, family and friends to support you when you go off the rails a little bit.

‘bewaretheteddy’ comes from the idea that the 1932 song “Teddy Bears’ Picnic” is in fact a horrible account of children being eaten in the woods by grizzly bears, and is a warning to children to stay away from the woods so they are not taken from their families.

It also comes from Ben’s tendency to draw a lot of teddy bear type characters. ♥

I’m a paper pusher by day and a wannabe artist at night. I draw unhappy bitty’s because—to me—there is a beauty in sadness that words cannot adequately describe.

a digital arts student in games design at RMIT who loves to explore different art forms and admire those with a solid unique style that he is still pursuing. “I’m the type of artist who would try to find more suitable solutions after a solution is found“

Graphic designer by day, photographer by also-day, stage actor by night. Awestruck by the beauty of dilapidated typography. Facial hair kept in a perpetual state of either ‘Haven’t-shaved-for-a-couple-of-days’ or ‘verging-on-beard.’ Favourite pastimes: spontaneously bursting into song, staring at walls.

Just finished a Bachelor of Engineering (Product Design Engineering) at Swinburne. His interest in Design stems from the challenges arising from creating new and exciting things.

“I really enjoy working with my hands to create visuals that are quite abstract and also finding balance and nice proportions in different shapes.”
